Better tactics and tactical view camera, also. The tactics are a fucking travesty. The companion AI in general is pretty shitty. I was fighting a high dragon yesterday and Varric and Solas stood in front of it as it breathed fire on them.

Also I can't request songs at the tavern? What the fuck

At the very least they need to allow you to zoom out further and make trees transparent. I can deal with the wonky tactical camera controls but it does not zoom out far enough. I'd also like to zoom out further in normal gameplay.

When I scroll out in regular gameplay it suddenly switches to tactical. Like, attach it to a button, I'm just trying to scroll here. Maybe I need to tinker with them controls.

But seriously, this game is enorm. And really good.

Also I killed a dragon two levels above me and it gave me an absurd level of confidence that was quickly crushed by a rift four levels above me.

It's also pretty fucking retarded that there's only 8 ability slots and I can't make dual-button keybindings like ctrl + e. This is why people complain about consoles.

The tactical camera is a huge hassle. I wish it would zoom to your selected character when the game was paused.

Yes. When I got to Skyhold I realized my keep hadn't imported properly, so I just rushed through a lot of the main story so I could see it then start over. After one point I did no more side missions.

As awesome as I thought: Varric, Viv and Dorian

As shit as I thought: Cole

Mixed feelings: Sera.

Used Cass, Dorian, Viv and Varric on rotation.

Tempest is OK. Love it with daggers. Seems it could be awesome with bow.

Next up is Mage.

I still haven't met Cole or the gay mage dude. I like Blackwall so far (he has a crush on me), interesting to hear he has a twist--seems pretty straight forward. Although, I'm only a level 7 and have barely done any story missions. I'm excited to meet Cole because I can already tell he's going to be the worst. I like all of my companions so far; I need someone to hate.

I like my daggers, I went Tempest too because Assassin seemed to focus on stealth and I only use it as an escape.

The other one seems to focus on ranged stuff. Varric is terrible at using it.

I want to bring Cole and Bull with me purely to try out their special trees. Cole, Bull and Blandwall interest me the least.

The whole thing about Iron Bull telling Krem that the Qun would view Krem as a man is dumb. The Qunari exile people who want to change jobs, let alone genders. I'm fairly certain Sten even had lines on this subject in Origins. Don't make no sense.

Sten was baffled at a female warden, so I'm not sure Bull's attitudes are reflective of the Qunari as a whole. Maybe he's whitewashing it for Krem's sake, or maybe BioWare is trying to retcon a society they initially described as having strict gender roles.

I read somewhere else that suggested maybe Qunari view genders as roles and biology doesn't come into it, but I find that unlikely because 1) the Warden's biological sex clearly mattered to Sten and 2) that would seem to suggest that people in the Qun are allowed to fill whatever gender / role they identify with, which is clearly against what we know about the Qun.

Anyway, the Qun's dumb. I'm taking it as Iron Bull's attitudes not being reflective of the Qun. Krem is probably lucky he's not under the Qun.

edit: it could also be BioWare retconning because BioWare. I'm actually not sure now what I think.

Grel finished. I played on hard. I crafted armor that gives you guard when you attack. There's a passive under mage fire tree that reduces cooldowns per spell. Combined with Viv's KE abilities it meant that barrier barely had a cooldown, so she could keep it up on allies pretty much forever as well as on herself. I didn't test out to see if guard giving armor counts for spells as well as normal attacks but if it does, holy shit.

The Storm Coast dragon was kicking my ass when I was trying to keep everyone alive. Eventually I just let my inquisitor die and played as Viv keeping Cassandra up.

Also Cassandra gets abilities that crush both barrier and guard. She might not be as tankey as Blackwall and his line in the sand, but being able to just remove enemy defenses was just too good to pass up.

Sten never quite accepted that femWarden was a woman. I don't think it's conflicting if you treat gender and sex as separate. That said, there certainly weren't any female warriors in DA2 but that games' graphical laziness... I dunno. maybe retcon.

Theres an option during the ball when you're dancing with florence thats something like "Wouldn't it be weird for two women to be seen dancing together?" You lose 10 court approval. Orlesians.

The question though is if the Qunari treat gender and biological sex as separate. Given how rigid their society is (and their treatment of mages in particular) I find it hard to believe they would leave your role up to something you identify as (gender) other than something they can observe and record for breeding purposes (biological sex). There doesn't seem to be much evidence to suggest there's any sort of wiggle room in their social structure. To them, you are what you are and I don't think they would give a shit about what you identify as.

I think this is just one of many ways Bull is atypical.
