If the PvP had a TTK that was as long as Halo's maybe it'd be worth playing but as it stands now it's complete dogshit. You die faster in it than Cawadooty and at least Cawadooty doesn't have terrible spawning. I hope they're not banking on it because it's awful.

I love everything on the PvE side of things, though. Didn't get to experience a ton of the story, but they have this "explore mode" available if you don't feel like doing the story side of things and opens up the entire map you're at. There's these beacons that are scattered around in explore mode that give you missions that can give you money/resources/rep. There's also public events which are probably the funnest thing. I'll upload two of them.

The first one goes on for about 2-3 minutes longer because the PS4 video thing is clunky. I thought I had turned it off but apparently not.

The last one I didn't get was where this huge demon guy spawned and he had a grenade launcher similar to what Hunters have in Halo. He had a metric shit ton of health and he slowly walks to a destination point and you have to kill him before he gets there. He passes through several "checkpoints" and the less amount of checkpoints he walks through the better the rewards.

They had one Strike available. Strikes are where it pairs you up with 2 other people and you go kill shit that is more difficult than normal. This one had a few phases. It went from defending a point against 3 waves, to killing a big boss to killing a bigger boss. I have the later part of the last boss.

If they make some Strikes that are like Firefight from Halo, then it'll be amazing. You can change the difficulty on the story missions/Strikes to go a bit above normal level, I'm hoping at end game there will be a "Heroic" mode for all the Strikes and stuff. Also they need to do some more Social stuff. There have been people mentioning a PvP mode where you race each other on hover bikes which could be amazing.

I'm also predicting an announcement for PC release date within the next 9 months. I bet they'll try and get it out before the first expansion.

I haven't been following Destiny's development, but I'm surprised how much it looks like Halo. The drop ships, sniper's nests accessible by gravity lift, random clunky and purple alien boxes peppered in. Tank badguy is a wraith.

You know what tipped it for me? (Because I was super saiyan seriously torn between PS4 and Wii U)

Mario Kart 8 was so meh, where as Destiny I really enjoyed. Plus, I want to be ready for the next-gen Bioware titles without having to get a new gaming PC.

BUT. For the zelda/smash affectionado with a budget, yeah, you are probs totes wise to go U.

If you're going to buy one I don't know why you would buy a Xbone. The only reasons I can think of is if you have a bunch of a friends that have one and you want to play multiplayer with them.

I saw a list of the exclusives coming to Xbox and just wasn't interested. Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive and that's about it.

Not that PS4 is loaded down with games I want either, but it's better hardware and has a more competent games division.

I'm closest to buying a Wii U out of all of them but I'd choose a PS4 over the Xbox.

Unless you're into shooters I don't think theres really any point to owning a console not made by Nintendo, all the good games come to PC eventually.

The only possible exception is Red Dead Redemption but that was what, 4 years ago?

You aren't kidding. I only got it for Destiny and No Man's Sky (which looks jaw-dropping and might be an exclusive RDR style)". Since neither were out yet, I decided to pick up a local co-op game I could play with friends, and a AAA adventure for me while I waited.

So how many next-gen local co-op games were there? None. And For myself I grabbed AC4, which I believe you can also play on PS3. Great job Sony. There's a reason my friends and I mostly play boardgames now...

And two of my other friends got XBox Ones instead for kinetic and Halo...lol.

If you buy a PS3/XBox 360 version of destiny you can upgrade to a PS4/XBox1 version for free until January 2015. Also, apparently 30% of PS4 owners owned a Nintendo or Microsoft system exclusively before switching to PS4. Pretty impressive poaching there.

What are Kath opinions so far? Based on what I've been reading, it seems Chicken's assessment from the alpha is pretty spot on, with maybe some additions about loot being a bit boring and not a lot of mission variety (which you wouldn't really get a sense of in a console alpha or beta).

I get the sense that if it wasn't a Bungie game or been hyped as this console megahit, people would probably accept it for what it is a bit more. A lot of the extreme reactions both ways seem to not be really reflective of what you get.
