"All over Tulsa are little pockets of collectives and boutiques and artisan bakeries ... I feel like that is popping up in so many cities, especially in places like Birmingham or Tulsa, where there was a time where those downtown areas were somewhat abandoned and people moved to the suburbs," [Portlandia co-creator Carrie Brownstein] said.
Gah, artisan bakeries. I've seen these symptom too many times.
But this part is good, too:
Two years ago, straight-faced boosters wanted to assemble a bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, $3.5 billion price tag and all.
xD

Carrie Brownstein is the leading authority on the migratory movements of hipsters. So, this is happening, Tulsa. Ready or not.

I'm ambivalent. I mean, there's not really anything in Tulsa for them to ruin.

They're going to replace the quik stop with a tibetan tea boutique.

FIRST OFF
It's QuikTrip. Second, there's a QuikTrip every half mile in Tulsa. For every QuikTrip they replace, two more will take its place.

That's what Oklahomans do when there's bad weather. If there's a tornado within 2 miles chances are most people are out on their porch looking at it.

Yeah. There was a fire a week or two ago and the first thing I did was go look at it. I was not alone.
