Just started playing Pillars of Eternity. I really liked it. The writing is impressively decent so far. I suck loads at it, though. I rerolled and made a fighter, which is more straight forward. I was playing a cipher before and was getting my dick kicked in.

Also this Pillars of Eternity looks interesting. How would you guys rate it in comparison to say… Neverwinter Nights 2?

Never played Never Winter Nights 2. But it's pretty solid so far. story is cool--though the game throws a shit lot of lore at you right away and it's impossible to keep all the factions/affiliations straight. I like the baulder's gate gameplay even thouhg baulder's gate was before my time and so I'm not nostalgic for it. I wish the game was fully voice acted. I don't mind reading but it's awkward how like half of a character's dialogue is voice acted. They'll say one thing and literally their next sentence won't have voice acting. That's weird.

Plus I'm not sure what all the soul stuff does yet. I find people with interesting souls but it seems all that gets you is a vignette to read. Is that backer content or something? It seems to rarely add up to a quest.

That's exactly how it was in NWN2. Why pay for voice acting when you can make gamers read?
But if it plays like Baldur's Gate then I daresay I'll enjoy it, but I'll probably grab it when it's super cheap, need to finish DA3 first.

Just never go down into the Endless Paths area beneath your keep. WHAT THE FUCK. I jumped down a hole and wound up on level 5 where a talking dragon kicked my dick in and now i'm trying to carry my sorry ass party up four flights of stairs to get the fuck out of here and never come back could there not have been a sign like hey don't go down here if you're a low ass level or if you suck at games.
